New Battery Technology With 10 Times Longer Batteries In The Works

Researchers at the Northwestern University are working on a new battery technology that could see major improvements in battery life for smartphones, tablets and other devices.
The new batteries would be able to hold a charge up to 10 time greater than existing mobile phone and tablet devices and it would also be able to recharge up to 10 times faster than existing batteries.

The researchers combined two chemical engineering approaches to address two major battery limitations — energy capacity and charge rate — in one fell swoop. In addition to better batteries for cellphones and iPods, the technology could pave the way for more efficient, smaller batteries for electric cars.
According to the researchers we could possibly see these new higher capacity batteries in devices and gadgets within the next three to five years.
